It Came From Japan - Stormbringer Side Story random table

The internet is an endless treasure trove filled with curiosities. I found this random Side Story generation table on a Japanese site for the old Stormbringer RPG, but it could be used for any fantasy RPG. The site of origin is HERE.

If a player cannot make a gaming session, they roll on these tables to make an imaginary ‘side story’ their character went on, which may also net them treasure and experience or possibly death and dismemberment. If several players are absent, roll once for all and randomly determine who gets the benefits or misfortune.

STEP ONE

Roll 1d00 on the first table, then again on the second, then combine the results to get the Side Story title. If the second result starts with ‘of’ it goes after the first, if it is an adjective it goes before.

Example: I roll a 43 and a 12, which gives me Prayer of Law. Not bad, fitting for Stormbringer and not as absurd as some answers might be.

STEP TWO

Roll 1d100 on the Adventure Outcome Table and add in the modifier from step one to determine the success of the adventure. If Side Story points are gained, they can be used to increase a skill by 1d6%. To increase a skill below 50% 1 Side Story point is needed, for skills over 50% 2 points are needed, and for skills over 85% 3 points are needed.

Example: I roll a 32, minus two as indicated by my roll of 12 above. I get 1d3 points I can use to improve skills (YAY!).

STEP THREE

Roll 1d100 on the Adventure Income Table and add in the modifier from step one to determine any income or loss from the adventure.

Example: I roll a 79, and with no modifiers from my previous rolls I get a Failure and lose 1d4 x 50 LB.
